Success Stories

For 34 years, Mary Ellen and Walt had lived happily in their comfortable Cape Cod style home.  They would both be quick to tell you that the first time they layed eyes on it, they knew it was the home of their dreams. Over the years, it has also been the scene of many a cherished family gathering for them and their 4 children, as well as extended family.   An avid gardener, Mary Ellen received particular pleasure from the sun room Walt had added on to the house that overlooked her flower garden.

When Walt had first gotten seriously ill, Mary Ellen struggled with providing him with all the care he needed.  Walt and Mary Ellen were adamant about staying in their home for as long as it was feasible.  Walt’s physician had mentioned that they might benefit from services provided by a private duty agency, and recommended CarePlus Nursing Services

When CarePlus first started providing services, Walt and Mary Ellen used them for just four hours each on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  The CarePlus aide helped Walt with some of his personal care, but also helped Mary Ellen with some of the more difficult and strenuous household chores.  Walt continued to weaken from his illness, and eventually passed away peacefully at home, with Mary Ellen at his side.

One year after Walt’s passing, Mary Ellen still is able to call her lovely Cape Cod her  home with the help of services from CarePlus Nursing Services.  She now has increased her services to four hours every day but Sunday.  She looks forward to her CarePlus Aide’s companionship and conversation, as well as the help they provide her around the house and with her own personal care needs.  Her CarePlus aide also accompanies her on shopping trips and to her appointments with her physician and hair dresser.  When Mary Ellen was scheduled for surgery, CarePlus arranged for her to have an aide around the clock for the first week she was home.

Mary Ellen says she thinks of Walt and misses him every day, and she can still feel his presence in their beloved home.  She knows he would be proud of her when she has all their children and grandchildren to their home again over the holidays.
